Thousands of sporting events run every year, with some of them going unnoticed due to their smaller number of fans. This year, numerous events are happening in March, with each event bringing its own type of excitement. If you are a sports fan, keep reading to find out the events you can enjoy in March of this year.
NCAA Basketball
The NCAA basketball tournament is the biggest college basketball event that has numerous teams competing. You have a chance to be there live when the event starts on March 14-15 or enjoy the games as they are played online.
Basketball lovers can get to enjoy March Madness live on location, with official tickets already out for sale.
The first and second rounds will be played from March 14 to March 19, the regional rounds from the 23rd to the 26th, and the final four will be played on April 1st and third.
Cheltenham Festival
The Cheltenham is a premier horse jumping and racing event that will be held from March 14 to March 17. The festival has seven events for each of the four days that it runs. The festival is held at the Gloucestershire course with thousands of fans flocking to the ground to see their favorite horses compete and to cheer on their favorite riders.
Those who are unable to attend the event on the grounds can follow it on various online platforms where most of the races will be streamed right. Fans can also bet on horses, trainers, and jockeys using the William Hill Cheltenham free bet offer provided to new players who make their first deposit on the platform. You will need a promo code to access the free bet offer, and you can find it on the link provided in the previous sentence.
Tokyo Marathon
Marathons have increased in popularity in the past few years with people of different capabilities competing in events of different distances. There are also official and unofficial charity events, but the Tokyo Marathon is an official, full-distance event.
The application period for those who would like to participate in the main and charity events has closed, so you just have to wait for the event which will take place on the March fifth.
As has been happening in recent years with other marathons, the Tokyo Marathon is open to both in-person and virtual runners who do not have to attend the event. Virtual runners run on approved machines that have the details of the route including the distance, elevation changes, and more programmed into them.
Baseball World Classic
The Baseball World Classic is an event attended by 20 teams from different nations to find out which country has the best baseball team. The event will be held from March 8 to 21 after being skipped in 2021 due to the pandemic.
The number of teams has also increased by four since the event was last held in 2017. The United States are the defending champion and will play against strong nations like Taiwan and Japan.
All the teams that participated in the event in 2017 qualify automatically for this year’s event, with qualifiers meant to find the four additional terms that will join the 16.
Formula One
Although it will not be held completely in March, this year’s Formula One championship will kick off on March 5 and continue until November. The F1 has said that it intends to host a season of 23 races, which did not happen last year as the Russian Grand Prix was cancelled due to the war with Ukraine.
This year, the F1 also intends to add Qatar and Las Vegas to the roster, with the season potentially having 24 races if the organizers can find a replacement for the Chinese Grand Prix. The Chinese GP was cancelled due to a surge in Coronavirus infections in the country.
The qualifying races have also been increased from three to six, and we do not expect many changes in the top teams. The most notable change is with Aston martin where Fernando Alonso replaces Sebastian Vettel.
These are the most notable sporting events to look out for in March. You can enjoy them in person if they come to a city, stadium, or track near you, but most of them will be streamed live so you can enjoy them from the comfort of your home.
