SiGMA Europe was one of the most prominent gambling conferences.
Matt Sahakian, CSO at Technamin, has shared his views on the annual iGaming event in the latest GBC-Time interview.
SiGMA Europe is one of the annual most expected events in the iGaming industry. What are your impressions after this year’s event? Have you noticed significant differences from the previous year?
The impressions are without a doubt great! It is always a pleasure attending any SiGMA event and no expense is ever spared in making sure that everyone leaves with tons of great memories and experiences gained. I feel like, after the COVID-19 lockdowns, there is now even more excitement for events like these. People are hungry for interaction and knowledge-sharing, and I am no different!
In your opinion, why do such events bring significant contributions to the global gambling industry? What does the Technamin company endure for itself after such events?
Our industry is quite global in many aspects, and events such as SiGMA Europe are ideal for bringing us together in the same space. That matters a lot in helping the industry grow, as we get to meet each other and speak to each other while sharing our experiences and ideas. We feed off of each other’s knowledge, and I am sure that new ideas spark after every event for everyone involved.
Are these conferences more for networking or promoting your products?
At this stage, it is all about establishing connections, extending our brand’s visibility and reach, along with engaging in intellectual conversations with like-minded peers and industry professionals. It goes without saying that I also take the chance not to promote, but rather to introduce Technamin’s products and services in the right context.
What goals did your team manage to achieve after such a conference? Are there any internal changes in the approach to work? If yes, what are they?
This time around, I was the only person from Technamin to attend SiGMA Europe. Again, the goal was to strike up interesting conversations and get to meet friends whom I have known in the industry for a long time, as well as expand my network by meeting new people. I am very grateful for this opportunity. In terms of internal changes, we are only even more motivated to push forward!
What top iGaming trends have you identified for yourself this year after the conference?
There are quite a few trends that we are following and which were definitely highlighted at the event as well. These are responsible gaming which we are ardent advocates for at Technamin, regulation, crypto gaming, and emerging trends such as NFTs and the Metaverse. It is a very exciting time to be part of the iGaming industry!
What would you like to see at the next SiGMA Europe event? Is there anything you’d like to change or add to the program?
One of the things that I loved seeing at SIGMA Europe, and I am sure so did everyone else, was Roberto Carlos appearing as an international guest. It would be really great to have more international stars and athletes appear at the event, as it adds more excitement to the whole experience.
