20% of the global population has gambled at least once in their life

Considering the long history and worldwide popularity of games of change it is not surprising that so much people have tried gambling at least one time. Men gamble almost twice as much as women

In the male-dominated world, it is obvious that men enjoy gambling more than women. This, however, also means that men lose their money playing games of chance more than women too.

NCBI reports that 69% of men have gambled at least once in their life. On the flip side, men are more prone to gambling addiction, while women more often adhere to responsible play.

3% of US citizens gamble online

Online gambling activities have been quite a hit for the past few years, especially after the start of the global pandemic when people were forced to stay at home. One country, however, still prefers brick-and-mortar gambling establishments. And this country is the US.

According to the casino.org website, online 3% of people in the USA play games of chance on the Internet. This is compared to 17% of online gamblers in the UK. This number, however, may change with the legalization of iGaming in many US states.

Half of Macau profits come from the gambling industry

Often called the Las Vegas of the East, Macau is a special administrative region of China that permits gambling. With only 45.56 m2 territory, the ex-Portuguese colony is swamped with luxurious casino resort. It is a popular retreat destination for many  So, it comes as no surprise that it 50% of the region’s revenue comes from gambling, amounting to roughly $38 billion.

Australians lost $18.4 billions on gambling

Australia is one the countries, where people gamble the most. In 2018, 80% of adult Australians admitted they have participated in games of chance at least once in a year. Such avid attitude toward games of chance, however, leads to substantial losses as well. In 2017, Australians lost $18.4 billions on games of chance in total.

The other fun fact about Australia is that 20% of all registered slots are placed there.
