Cheltenham Festival Predictions

With 28 races to enjoy, there is so much to look forward to for horse racing bettors at the 2022 Cheltenham Festival. Seven races take place each day, with a Championship race scheduled every day of the meeting.

Here is a look at three horses that are a good bet to win their respective contests this year.

Edwardstone to win the Arkle Trophy – +188

Edwardstone extended his winning run over fences to four races when the horse claimed the Grade Two Kingmaker Novices’ Chase at Warwick. That was his final prep run before the Cheltenham Festival, and he looked in great shape.

Alan King’s runner is now as short as +188 in the betting to win the Arkle Trophy, but those backing in the novice chaser can take advantage of a Cheltenham Festival betting offer on day one contest. He deserves his position at the top of the market, and he represents the best bet on the opening day of the meeting.

Unlike many runners in the Arkle field, Edwardstone is already a Grade One winner. He prevailed in the Henry VIII Novices’ Chase at Sandown by an impressive 16 lengths. His future over fences is very bright. He can end his novice campaign with major success at the Festival.

Bravemansgame to win the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase – +275

Champion Trainer Paul Nicholls has won the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase three times. This year, he has an excellent chance of adding to his tally with Bravemansgame. This horse featured at the highest level over hurdles, but he has improved considerably as a chaser.

The Kauto Star Novices’ Chase winner featured at Newbury on Super Saturday, where he conceded a lot of his weight to his rivals, landing his fourth victory over fences. He is now +275 for his assignment at the Festival.

This race is one of the fascinating races of the week, as it will see Bravemansgame taking on the leading Irish novice chaser Galopin Des Champs. There looks to be very little between those two horses on paper, so at the prices, the British-trained horse is the best value.

Minella Indo to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup – +400

Only two horses since 2000 have been able to defend their crown in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Best Mate and Al Boum Photo have succeeded where many other champions have failed. Connections of Minella Indo will be hoping their horse adds his name to that list this year.

Henry De Bromhead’s runner powered up the hill at Cheltenham in 2021 to claim the biggest prize of the week ahead of his stablemate A Plus Tard. Although the runner-up has shown signs of improvement this season, a match-up at Cheltenham should favor the defending champion.

Stamina is clearly not a problem for Minella Indo, who is +400 in the Cheltenham Gold Cup betting. This year’s race could be a fast-run contest, which will suit him, as he will be staying on strongly when many of his rivals have cried enough.

Good luck with the above three selections. Hopefully, it ends as a profitable Cheltenham Festival for you this year.
