The iGaming industry continues to go from strength to strength by entering new markets of regulation with the best products that each platform has to offer along with providers looking to expand the product range ever further. Live casino gaming has been a revelation, particularly because it is greatly expanded the selection of games that can be gambled on.
For example, game shows are now an online casino staple alongside the likes of table games and slots. It is developments like this that see the European gambling market set to eclipse €126 billion by 2026. It is also why in the United States, the online gambling market will reportedly see a compound annual growth rate of 17.34 percent through to 2027.
One of the newest major players that are helping to grow the reach of the industry is OnAir Entertainment. Only founded in December 2020, the team of senior industry professionals built a new live casino from the ground up, setting up the head office in Malta and soon expanding to Riga, Latvia. Now, having expanded the range of live casino games, and spread across Europe, OnAir is eyeing further expansion across the globe in 2024.
Expanding the types of games available
OnAir Entertainment began as most other live casino game providers do, with a live blackjack game. It is one of the most popular types of casino games and remains a staple live game alongside the likes of live roulette, live baccarat, and live casino hold ’em poker. While the new studio may have been able to offer superior experiences and more likable hosts, simply providing live blackjack and roulette in their base forms likely wouldn’t cut it with online audiences anymore.
OnAir Entertainment branched out and has continued to do so throughout its existence. Simply looking at a live casino platform that features their games shows the rapid and quite recent expansion of game titles. There is the platform-customized games like the Live Exclusive Roulette, as well as more varied creations like Live Football Roulette, Live 9 Pots Of Gold, Live Lotus Speed Baccarat, and the newly-created Live Card Matchup.
The final game there, Live Card Matchup, offers a keen insight into the operations of OnAir Entertainment and an example of how they’ve been able to become such a success so quickly. At the time of writing, Live Card Matchup was still listed as a “new” game and was live throughout the 2022 FIFA World Cup. With record viewership coming in for the tournament in Qatar, including a new high for US TV viewers for England vs USA on November 25, football fever had certainly gripped the globe, and the live game pandered to this with its soccer-style aesthetic and play.
Expanding across the globe
The efforts of OnAir Entertainment to deliver high-quality live games and diversify the range of games available to players have worked. Fuelled by a rapid rise to prominence, the company has been able to expand across the globe, setting up new studios and a new presence in several European countries. In July 2022, a new studio in Georgia was announced as their third studio, coming just after approval for a Romanian studio came through.
In June 2022, OnAir announced that it would be breaking into a brand new market, Denmark, but more impressively, that news was just one of many to open the year. In eight months, starting November 2021, OnAir expanded to eight new markets, including Sweden, the UK, Greece, the Isle of Man, Malta, Latvia, and Ontario, Canada. This year has been huge for the upstart provider, but 2022 looks to be even bigger.
Next on the list looks to be another major European market. With a population of 47.33 million and a well-known slots fascination, Spain looks to be the next destination for OnAir. In early 2024, OnAir plans to open up a new studio in the southern European nation, featuring a vast range of roulette games that will be broadcast by Spanish-speaking hosts. It aims to get its Spanish studio live in Q1, with new markets Italy and Romania also set to join.
Later in 2024, OnAir’s going after the big fish, the USA. The US gaming market is growing rapidly, tipped to hit $15 billion in Q3 2022. As more states have joined the fold for regulating online sports betting, with some also opening to online casino games, the US has become an increasingly appealing nation to iGaming providers. In 2024, OnAir will expand nationwide across the US into all major regulated and soon-to-be-regulated states.
It has been a wild ride for OnAir Entertainment already, seemingly soaring without a ceiling in sight. In 2024, they look set to continue with further expansion in Europe and across the Atlantic.
